Coconut Oil Nourishes the Skin and helps with makeup Removal

You can gently remove makeup from your skin with coconut oil.

Coconut oil is particularly recommended for dry skin, thanks to its moisturizing properties. There is also proof that it promotes wound healing and inhibits inflammation. It would also make coconut oil suitable for pimples and irritated skin. The oil is also said to have antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral effects. However, these assumptions have not yet been sufficiently scientifically confirmed.

And this is how you use Coconut Oil on your Skin:

Massage a hazelnut-sized amount onto your washed face and leave the oil on overnight.

You can also use this oil to remove makeup: melt half a teaspoon of fat in your hands. Rub it over your skin and eyelashes to loosen the makeup particles. Then wipe it off with a reusable cotton makeup remover pad.

Coconut oil: Effect on Hair

Especially in summer, our hair by heat and UV radiation. Oil is said to be able to counteract such damage. It is also said to have moisturizing and strengthening effects. However, these assumptions have not yet been scientifically long-established.

If you want to try the oil for your hair yourself, you can use it as a treatment:

Distribute a hazelnut-sized amount of oil, more if you have longer hair, evenly into your hair.

After 30 to 45 minutes, solution out the oil.

Wrap a towel around your head and let the treatment soak in overnight for a better result.

Make your toothpaste

Coconut oil is also considered natural protection against tooth decay. According to a Spiegel article from 2012, a study proved this effect. However, the Sifting Ware test warns against relying on it for dental care: Indian studies have shown slight anti-plaque results, but the oil cannot provide all-around protection against tooth decay.

Therefore, use homemade oil toothpaste to clean your teeth and regularly use fluoride.

For Toothpaste with Coconut Oil, you need the following Ingredients:

3-4 tbsp liquid coconut oil

2-3 tbsp excellent baking soda powder

a well-rinsed empty jam jar for storage

How to make your toothpaste:

Mix the liquid oil with the baking soda until both ingredients have combined.

Then pour the mixture into the jam jar.

It is best to store the toothpaste in the fridge. Since this melts around 23 degrees, the toothpaste quickly becomes liquid at room temperature.

You can apply a pea-sized amount to your toothbrush with the oil-soda paste-like conventional toothpaste. In another article, we will tell you what different you can use baking soda.

Coconut oil for oil pulling

You can also use oil for oil pulling:

To do this, let about a teaspoon of coconut oil melt in your mouth as soon as you get up.

Swish the melted oil back and forth in your mouth.

After a few minutes, spit the oil out again.

This application is intended to strengthen the immune system and gums and whiten teeth. So far, however, none of these effects has been conclusively scientifically confirmed. Some studies suggest positive effects on dental health. However, they are only meaningful to a limited extent. The assumption that oil pulling has a detoxifying effect and thus prevents diseases is not medically tenable.
